Akinya
Akinya has loved movement for as long as she can remember. From her early days as a spirited presence on the playground to martial arts training as a teenager, where she began teaching at age 16, movement has always been a constant in her life. That passion grew into track and cross country, and eventually into teaching lyrical dance and Zumba as a way to bring health and wellness to her community.
She stepped into her first yoga asana class in 2017 and immediately fell in love. Yoga gave her a space to build strength, improve balance, increase mobility and deepen awareness, transforming her approach to wellness, and she now loves creating that same space for others. With her RYT 200 and SCW Pilates Matwork Certification, Akinya blends athletic challenge with mindful movement for classes that are both energizing and intentional. Her teaching style is equal parts encouraging, challenging and fun: expect to work hard, stay present and maybe even smile through it.
Outside the studio, Akinya is the MasterChef of her own kitchen and loves spending time with her husband and family, diving into books and the arts, and seeking out new experiences.
